Dr. Konstantinos V. Spiliopoulos, is Professor of Structural Mechanics in the Institute of Structural Analysis and Antiseismic Research (ISAAR), School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. He received his Diploma in Civil Engineering from NTUA and holds a PhD Degree in Structural Mechanics from the Department of Aeronautics of Imperial College of Science & Technology, University of London. His research interests include Structural and Computational Structural Mechanics, Inelasticity, Failure of Materials and Structures, Nonlinear Reinforced Concrete Analysis (NRCA). He has published 33 papers in top rated journals, 7 chapters in edited refereed books and over 60 papers in International Conferences. Work on NRCA has been adopted by the ADINA software. It is also included in the BetonKalender (2018). He is the main guest editor of the Springer SNAS Journal Topical Collection in Engineering ‘Limit States Analysis and Design of Structures and Materials’ and co-editor of two books.
Dr. Evangelos Sapountzakis is Civil Engineer, Professor at the Institute of Structural Analysis and Antiseismic Research of the Structural Engineering Department of the School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He is also Vice Rector for Finance, Programming and Development of NTUA and Director of the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Program “Structural Design and Analysis of Structures” of NTUA. He obtained his Diploma from NTUA in 1984, the MSc and DIC degrees (Concrete Structures) from Imperial College of Science and Technology of London in 1985 and the PhD degree from NTUA in 1991. He has extensive experience (over 35 years) in the design and analysis of bridge and other largescale structural projects, while since 1996 he has provided consultancy services in various structural and transportation large scale Civil Engineering projects. He has also been a member of the Special Scientific Tender Evaluation Committee for the project: “Study – Construction, Self-financing and Utilisation of the Permanent Bridging Project of Rion – Antirrion”. Apart from NTUA, he is also Professor of Structural Analysis at the School of Corps of Engineers of the Hellenic Army since 1986 and member of the Coactive Educational Staff of the Hellenic Open University (2011-2017). His published research work comprises 132 original papers published in international journals and 190 papers published in international conference proceedings. He is the author of 12 Chapters in books published by International Publishing Companies, 5 Technical Reports, 4 educational books and co-author of 3 educational books. He is the editor of 6 Books or Conference Proceedings. He has participated in 15 financially supported research projects, while in 11 of them as the Principal Investigator. He has given 1 Plenary and 21 Keynote lectures in international conferences. His research work has received international recognition, since he is Honorary Editor, Editor-in-Chief, Academic Editor, Regional Editor, Associate Editor of international journals, member of the editorial board of 29 international journals, member of 72 scientific advisory committees of international conferences, while more than 3000 citations have been noticed in international literature (h-index=31). He is also reviewer of scientific papers in more than 60 international journals and evaluator of research proposals of Ministries of Science, Research and Development of 3 foreign countries.
Dr. Vissarion Papadopoulos is a Professor at the School of Civil Engineering, NTUA since 2019. He holds a diploma in Civil Engineering from NTUA (1991), an MSc in Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics, Imperial College of Science Technology and Medicine (1993) and a PhD in Computational Mechanics, NTUA (1998). He has also conducted postdoctoral research at Columbia University New York (2002-2005) in the area of computational stochastic mechanics. Prior to his arrival at NTUA he served as a Lecturer (2001-2003), and then as an Assistant Professor (2004) at the University of Thessaly (PD407), at the departments of Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. His main research focuses on Computational Mechanics, Stochastic Analysis and Machine Learning and has received funding from National and European sources. He has more than 65 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals (scholar citations >2500, h-index 29) and has supervised to completion 6 PhD theses. Dr. Nikos D. Lagaros is Professor of Structural Optimization and since 2018 he is the Dean of the School of Civil Engineering at NTUA. Prior moving to NTUA, he was Assistant Professor (PD407) at the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Thessaly (2000 to 2007), Greece. In the past he also served as Visiting Professor at Department of Biological Engineering, Laboratory for Computational Biology & Biophysics, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2014), Boston, USA and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, McGill University (2013), Montreal, Canada. Dr. LAGAROS obtained his BEng and PhD, both in Civil Engineering, from NTUA and he teaches classes on Structural Analysis, Optimization and Computer Programming. Dr. LAGAROS has provided consulting, peer-review and expert-witness services to private companies and federal government agencies in Greece and Internationally. Dr. LAGAROS is an active member of the computational mechanics research community. Dr. Maria Nerantzaki is an Associate Professor at the School of Civil Engineering of NTUA. She holds a diploma in Civil Engineering from NTUA (1979) and a Dr. Engineering diploma from the School of Civil Engineering of the NTUA (1992). The area of her scientific research is the static and dynamic, linear and non-linear analysis of surface structures. It is referred to the development and application of analytical and numerical methods, boundary and boundary-domain methods using integral equations as well as to messless methods. She has 19 publications in international referee scientific journals and 34 papers in the proceedings of international conferences. Dr. Savvas Triantafyllou is an Assistant Professor at the School of Civil Engineering, NTUA since October 2019. He holds a diploma in Civil Engineering from NTUA (2004), an MSc in Structural Analysis, NTUA (2006) and a PhD in Structural Engineering (2011). Prior to his arrival at NTUA he served as a Lecturer (2012-13) at Brunel University London, and then as an Assistant (2013-17) and Associate Professor (2017-19) at the University of Nottingham, UK. His research interests involve state-of-the-art computational mechanics, and the analysis and performance of materials and structures under static and dynamic conditions. His research has received funding from National and European sources.
